When I first started to get fit, I talked to a few trainers and professionals at my local gym about what I should invest in to help me make my small home gym grow. What I really wanted was a good exercise bike. They gave me some good recommendations, but they suggested a lot of fancy but overpriced equipment, and I crossed most of those off the list. I was really only a beginner, and that’s why I focused more on cheaper and simpler options like the Sunny SF-B1001 Indoor Cycling Bike.

Sunny SF-B1001 Indoor Cycling BikeI admit that what drove me to buy this exercise bike was mainly the price. It was $199 and I was sold almost right away. But I did take a good look at its features before blindly buying. The flywheel is 30 lbs. Other people have problems about that but it works well for me. I’m stable and balanced when using the bike, and I’ve had it for about half a year. My roommate at the time was trying to shed some serious weight, and I was generous enough to let her use my bike. It’s durable enough to support a lot of weight.

It’s also quite an easy bike to move. Just hoist it up on the wheels and use the handlebars to maneuver it, and you can transport it from room to room. And because it’s a small bike, it doesn’t take up a lot of space. It being a smaller bike than most (by about 8 or 10 inches), it’s great for shorter riders.

The seat is fully adjustable, as well as the handlebars. The seat can be a little bothersome in that it is a bit tilted. Sometimes you have to conform the way you sit so that you don’t slide off the seat. The bike doesn’t come with a heart rate monitor like the ones on handlebars that record heart rate through grip sensors. There is no machinery other than the mechanical resistance knobs either. If that’s a problem for you, maybe this isn’t the bike for you. The chain drive mechanism works well for me because it’s smooth and quiet enough for my morning workouts that I don’t wake up or disturb anyone else.

On good days, I use my outdoor bike to enjoy the weather and also get a wonderful workout. But I find that using my exercise bike actually gives me a more challenging workout that leaves me sweating all over the place. Plus, there are no annoying potholes and traffic lights to slow me down. I can have my workout uninterrupted, just how I like it. Some bikes out there are uncomfortable when it comes to using it in different positions. This one is stable even when I do climbing and standing workouts.

There is a bottle holder by the base of the bike for you to keep your water bottle while working out. I also love that it’s appealing to the eyes. The red and black color scheme is a strong combination that makes me want to actually work out. It’s a nice change to the bland and dark bikes.
